“I warmly congratulate Great Britain’s women’s curling team on winning a bronze medal following their match against Switzerland.
“The win will be even the more notable given Eve Muirhead’s local connection with Perth.
“One local resident joked that Dewar’s Ice Rink was like the Mary Celeste as every Perthshire curling fan watched the game live.
“It is great that Team GB has enjoyed the best Winter Olympicsin Sochi since the inaugural Games in Chamonix in 1924 part of which is down to the outstanding efforts of our Scottish athletes including our Curling Teams.
“I also hope that the success which has been enjoyed by both the Women and Men’s Curling Teams in Sochi will help nurture an interest in the sport for local youngsters and give them an opportunity to try Curling.”
