Cllr Mac Roberts, Leader of the Scottish Conservative Group on Perth and Kinross Council said that today’s budget, whilst starting out as four separate budget proposals had resulted in a meeting of minds which will deliver a good deal of the residents of Perth and Kinross.
“The Scottish Nationalist Administration have taken on board several of the key aspects of our revenue budget –
- To freeze parking charges in all Council car parks, across Perth and Kinross, for two years.
- To review the possible implementation of pay on exit parking for council car parks.
- To increase to £200k the funding for the Citizens Advice Bureau.
“The Administration have also recognised after several years of our arguing the case – that increasing the charges for community alarms; community care and occupational therapy equipment is unfair on elderly and vulnerable residents – many of whom will be on fixed incomes.
“In the Capital Budget we were extremely pleased that Cllr Miller supported our amendment to increase the priority rating for works to a key local road serving the area near the A9 around the Stewart Towers dairy. This will have a positive impact for residents and businesses in this area.
“The Scottish Conservative Group made a commitment to delivering a good deal for local people when we agreed to work with the SNP on an issue by issue basis. Today we have delivered very positive outcomes in this budget and will continue to work to ensure Perth and Kinross is an excellent place in which to live and work.”
