Alexander Stewart, Scottish Conservative General Election Candidate, has today spoken of his concerns that Blairgowrie, as the biggest town in Perth and Kinross, needs to be given improved leisure and recreation facilities.
Alexander attended the local community council meeting and heard for himself concerns being raised by representatives of the community.
Commenting Alexander said,
“In this constituency’s largest town residents and businesses are growing increasingly frustrated by what they see as a lack of clear vision for the future of the area. With hundreds of additional homes planned and no suggestion of how the infrastructure will grow to support this growth there is concern that the existing, and in many cases outdated facilities – medical, educational and recreational – will be stretched to breaking point.
“I believe that consultation and planning must be carried out now to ensure these concerns are addressed and that Blairgowrie and Rattray can attract employment and other opportunities to match the growth.
“Communities across the area all have different requirements and aspirations for how they will grow. Those living and working there need to be listened to and involved in creating a blueprint for their future. I will work with my colleague Cllr Caroline Shiers to ensure that these views are heard over the coming months.”
