Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has received notice from Transport Scotland regarding the proposed A9 dualling route between Birnam and the Tay Crossing.
The Conservative MSP wrote to Transport Scotland seeking clarification on the possible route north of Dunkeld.
Transport Scotland has confirmed that both on-line and off-line corridors are being considered for the route between the Tay Crossing and Ballinluig, however there is a preference for dualling the route along the existing road.
Transport Scotland also confirmed that the route between Birnam and the Tay crossing would follow the existing A9 carriageway.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“It’s important that residents in the communities alongside the A9 are kept informed as to the route of the new dualled road.
“Construction of the route will be complicated and Transport Scotland must ensure that residents are inconvenienced as little as possible.
“Businesses already feel the economic impact of delays and closures due to accidents and therefore it is important that the dualling process is conducted as smoothly as possible.”
