Commenting on the news that Perth has been named as one of 12 UK cities which will benefit from expansion of ultra-fast broadband following a successful bid to secure a share of the UK Governments £50m broadband ‘super-connected’ city fund. Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said: “This is great news which will be welcomed by residents and businesses across Perth. “The funding case put forward by Perth & Kinross Council and the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce was first class and they are to be congratulated. “The super-connected city plan is being developed to ensure that Perth capitalises on the national priority to develop ultrafast broadband provision. “The objective is to secure investment in digital infrastructure to support more rapid economic growth for and wider digital participation. “The UK Conservative Government is delivering for Perthshire and this funding will help to deliver the upgrades to broadband which are needed to deliver the broadband infrastructure to make Perth a ‘super-connected city’.
