SPIRIT OF STIRLING WHISKY FESTIVAL SUCCESS

The recent Spirit of Stirling Whisky Festival has received praise in the Scottish Parliament after Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser lodged a parliamentary motion on the success of the inaugural event.  The motion has received cross-party support from Labour, Liberal Democrat, SNP and fellow Conservative MSPs.

Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser is opposed to any changes to the Royal Regiment of Scotland that will see the identity of the Black Watch and the other battalions being stripped away or amalgamated with other battalions.

NEXT GENERATION BROADBAND DEMAND FOR PERTHSHIRE

 Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser recently met with BT Scotland representatives during a presentation on Next Generation Access (NGA) Broadband and Murdo wants to see the latest infrastructure technology to be invested in Perthshire to improve broadband services.

PROTECT LOCAL HISTORIC BATTLEFIELD SITES

 Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser wants to see the historic battlefields at Dunkeld and Tippermuir by Perth protected and included in Historic Scotland’s Inventory of Historic Battlefields. The call comes as Historic Scotland launch a consultation on the 18th May to consider their inclusion in the inventory.

CYCLING FESTIVAL PRAISED IN PARLIAMENT

Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative Murdo Fraser MSP has lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament celebrating the Highland Perthshire Cycling Festival 2012, which has the backing of 26 MSPs from all political parties.

NEW WATCHDOG TO HELP LOCAL FARMERS & PRODUCERS

 Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative Murdo Fraser MSP has welcomed the news in today’s Queen Speech that the UK Government will establish a Groceries “Adjudicator”, whose job will be to ensure supermarkets treat their suppliers fairly and lawfully, and believes this will benefit Fife and Perthshire farmers and producers.

IMPROVE BROADBAND IN PERTHSHIRE

The Scottish Government must recognise the poor standard of broadband connectivity in parts of Perthshire, especially Highland Perthshire and eastern Perthshire, is holding back local businesses and frustrating households: that is the message from MSP Murdo Fraser after he raised the matter in the Scottish Parliament.
