Commenting on Perth-based Scottish & Southern Energy warning that the independence referendum will increase the risk it attaches to investment projects, Mid-Scotland and Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser said: “Scottish & Southern Energy is Scotland’s second biggest business and is a major employer in Perth. Alex Salmond must take heed about investor confidence in Scotland, after SSE outlined uncertainty surrounding Scotland’s future means additional risk of more regulation and legislative changes.” Murdo Fraser, who is also the Convenor of the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee, continued: “The Scottish Government must listen to these genuine concerns, for the good of the Scottish economy and the many employees SSE have in Perth and the surrounding area. The Scottish Government must consider bringing the referendum forward in order to help business and allay these concerns. “SSE has its headquarters here in the Fair City and the company is a real Scottish success story. SSE is strongly committed to Perth and it is well served by a magnificent local workforce.”
