Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser is backing Keep Scotland Beautiful’s campaign the ‘National Spring Clean 2012’ and hopes hundreds of residents in Perthshire will take part and help clean up their own communities. National Spring Clean is a month-long campaign during April. Due to previous success, the participation dates have been extended to include litter picks taking place over a two month period: 1st April - 31st May 2012, to make it more accessible to a wider number of participants. In 2011, almost 100,000 Scots across the country spent a little time cleaning up an area close to them, with 1,538 clean up events across Scotland. This year, there are plans for clean-up events in Bankfoot, Blairgowrie, Calvine, Errol, Guildtown, Longforgan, Meigle, Perth, Pitlochry, Rattray, Stanley, Struan and many more in Perthshire. More information can be found at www.keepscotlandbeautiful.org/springclean Murdo Fraser said: “I back Keep Scotland Beautiful’s campaign ‘National Spring Clean’ and I hope hundreds of people throughout Perthshire get involved in the clean-up events that are planned throughout our communities. “It is welcome to see so many people who want to get involved and help their community. Perthshire individuals and groups can register for a free Clean Up Kit and find out more about what is happening in the local area by visiting the website www.keepscotlandbeautiful.org/springclean. “Keep Scotland Beautiful does a magnificent job in promoting a clean and litter-free Scotland and people in Perthshire can help Keep Scotland Beautiful in their National Spring Clean campaign. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the local volunteers involved in the campaign who do a lot of great work to improve our local communities and make Perthshire that little bit cleaner.”
