The Mobile Performance and Coverage in Scotland report has found that poor mobile phone coverage across Perth & Kinross. The report found that 3G is unavailable in 60.2% of Perth & Kinross communities. Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife said: “This is a serious issue for individuals and business especially those of us who live in rural areas. “I have had many complaints from constituents across Mid Scotland & Fife and this report just demonstrates how poor the phone reception is in many parts of Perthshire and Stirlingshire. “I have raised concerns with mobile phone companies and called on both of Scotland’s Governments at Holyrood and Westminster to engage with the operators and look at new alternative technologies to address performance issues now. “The UK Conservative Government has set out plans for £150m investment to improve mobile phone coverage. Investing in mobile infrastructure will provide hundreds of millions of pounds of economic benefits as well as resulting in positive social impacts, such as increased safety and security in terms of emergency response.”
