Commenting on Grundon Waste Management’s incinerator application on Perth’s Shore Road being rejected by councillors today, MSP Murdo Fraser said: “I welcome the decision by councillors to reject the revised incinerator application and this now needs to be the end of the incinerator saga. “I congratulate the local community for their strong and reasoned voice for not allowing the go ahead of this incinerator, which would have been a blight in the middle of Perth. It has been very disappointing for residents in Perth to have to go through years of incinerator applications. This incinerator application fiasco has drained a great deal of time and public resources as well as highlighting the incompetence of the SNP-led Council.” Mid Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Liz Smith said: “At last the people of Perth have had the threat of the incinerator removed. “This whole sorry episode has been a blight on Perth & Kinross Council and I hope that steps will be taken to consult more with local residents in the future.”
