As part of Universal Children’s Day celebrations, Murdo Fraser helped out at Barnardo’s in Dalgety Bay this week.
Marked annually on 20th November, Universal Children’s Day celebrates the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, a human rights treaty which sets out the political, economic, civil, health, social and cultural rights of children. The date also marks the day on which the General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959.
Barnardo’s Scotland provides more than 122 community-based services throughout Scotland, working with over 26,500 vulnerable children, young people and their families.
Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“Barnardo’s are doing a fantastic job in Dalgety Bay and it was great to help out in their shop for a bit.
“I always try to visit Barnardo’s around Universal Children’s Day and it was a pleasure to visit a different store location in the Mid-Scotland and Fife region.
“During my visit I was pleased to learn more about Barnardo’s work in the local community and their plans for the future. The volunteers and staff at Dalgety Bay are extremely hard working and should be commended for the contribution they make to children’s lives in the area.
“I would urge residents in the area to support the shop in Dalgety Bay as all of the money spent goes directly to the charity.”
