Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP, Murdo Fraser, will tomorrow address a conference of Scotland’s private parking companies about the need for legislation to improve customer relations.
Murdo has spent the last two years campaigning for better regulations and will take this message to the lion’s den ahead of his Member’s Bill consultation in the Scottish Parliament.
The Scottish Government has indicated that they are willing to clampdown on rogue parking companies and a Private Member’s Bill sponsored by a Conservative MP at Westminster is also in its early stages.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said;
“I look forward to addressing tomorrow’s conference whilst highlighting my work to better regulate the private parking industry.
“My early discussions with the British Parking Association have been extremely productive and I look forward to bringing the industry with me as I seek to improve relations between parkers and providers.
“Above all, it’s about providing a level playing field for everyone, by rooting out the rogue parking companies the industry has an opportunity to improve its image and public perception especially in places like Perth.
“Ensuring that motorists are not deterred from using private car parks for fear of complex meters and hard-to-fathom rules is a must and I look forward to explaining, in more detail, my ideas to the conference.”
