Scottish Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser has called for jet ski users on the River Tay in Perth to behave in a “responsible” manner and stressed he will continue to look into what can be done to improve the situation.
The Mid Scotland and Fife politician has been contacted by residents who live near the River Tay, who have told him they are upset at both the noise made by the jet skiers and also with the potential disturbance to wildlife in the area.
Commenting, Mr Fraser said: “I have been contacted by residents who have expressed their concerns about the excessive noise and disturbance caused by jet ski users on the River Tay, particularly at weekends.
“I understand the concerns they have, both about the noise and also the potential disturbance to wildlife in the area.”
Mr Fraser continued: “I have contacted Perth and Kinross Council about the issue, but I do understand their hands are effectively tied about what can be done by current legislation. However, I would ask those who operate the jet skis to behave in a responsible fashion and I will continue to investigate to see what can be done to improve the situation.”
