Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser has met with the SPOT Fife group to discuss their concerns regarding the increasing numbers of inappropriately sighted wind turbines in Fife and the current applications for turbines at Blairadam & Outh Muir.
Fife Council haS previously stated that both Blairadam and Outh Muir were unsuitable areas for wind turbine developments.
Furthermore, wildlife impact surveys place both areas as crucial for osprey, hen harrier, short eared owl, pink footed geese and a nationally rare beetle. There are also concerns as to the visual impact of both projects.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said;
“It was extremely important to meet with the members of SPOT Fife to discuss the current wind farm applications at Blairadam and Outh Muir.
“Like many Fife residents the members of SPOT are concerned at the rampant spread of wind farms across Fife and the current Scottish Governments’ wrong-headed energy policies that are placing ordinary bill payers in fuel poverty.
“Both developments challenge environmental considerations and Fife Council have previously stated that Blairadam and Outh Hill have no capacity for wind turbines, therefore the passing of these developments could set a worrying precedent.
“I would encourage those local residents who are concerned to have their say on both wind farm developments before a decision is made. Furthermore for those residents wishing to learn more about Blairadam and Outh Muir projects as well as other wind turbine developments I would encourage them to contact SPOT Fife at http://spotfife.org.uk/contact-us/ .”
