Murdo Fraser MSP is backing a poster competition where primary schools in Perth and Kinross can win up to £20,000 for a sustainability project.
The Scottish Conservative politician, who represents the Mid Scotland and Fife region, has given his support to Asda’s Plastic Investigators Club, which aims to tackle the issue of plastic waste in the UK.
Asda and the National Schools Partnership are inviting all primary school pupils to design a poster that spreads awareness of plastic waste and what can be done to help solve it.
First prize is £20,000, second prize is £10,000 and third prize is £5,000. There are also gift cards for the top pupils in the competition.
Commenting, Mr Fraser said: “This is a great competition for primary schools in Perth and Kinross. They have the chance to win a considerable amount of money and they are also doing their bit for the environment by raising awareness of the problem of plastic waste.
“I would encourage all primary schools in Perth and Kinross to enter the competition.”
Entries must be sent in by 5pm on July 24.
