Liz Smith CBE MSP

Liz Smith CBE MSP (Mid Scotland and Fife) has welcomed Perth and Kinross Council’s decision to reject the controversial Methven solar farm and battery storage proposal.

The solar farm application at Kinnon Park (24/01188/FLM) attracted almost 350 public objections and a considerable backlash from the local community.

Commenting on the news, Liz Smith said:

“I am pleased the council has rejected this unpopular application which the people of Methven are so vehemently opposed.”

“The ugly proposals would scar the landscape, harm the local environment, and likely cause significant noise pollution. Not to mention it is a total waste of prime arable land of the type important for food security.”

“I would like to thank Sarah Fergusson and members of Methven Community Council for successfully campaigning against this development, as well as the hundreds of individuals who submitted planning objections, despite the intimidatory tactics employed by some”.
