Make Perth the permanent home of the new Fire & Rescue Service headquarters: that is the call from Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser upon the announcement of Alisdair Hay as Scotland’s first chief officer of the Fire and Rescue service.
Mr Hay will be based at the interim headquarters at Perth Community Fire Station from the 1st of April next year.
Upon hearing the news Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“Firstly, I’d like to congratulate Mr Hay on his successful promotion. It will no doubt be a demanding role but I am sure he has both the experience and skills to succeed.”
“With its central location, good transport links and its affordable accommodation, Perth is the ideal place to host the national Fire and Rescue Service headquarters.
“As far as efficiency and service continuity are concerned, it makes perfect sense to establish the permanent base in the same location as the temporary base.
“The newly created Single Scottish Police Force will base their headquarters at Tulliallan in Fife demonstrating the benefits a central location offers. I hope that the Scottish Fire and Rescue service follow suit and make Perth their permanent home.”
