Scottish Conservative MSP Liz Smith has said the temporary closure of St Margaret’s Community Hospital in Auchterarder due to Covid-19 underlines the importance of improving the track and trace system.
A decision has been made to temporarily close the hospital for a week with appropriate infection prevention and control measures being put in place.
Commenting, the politician, who represents the Mid Scotland and Fife region, said: “Given all the recent concerns which have been highlighted across Scotland, this is no doubt in the best interests of patient and public safety.
“It will however, be a huge worry for patients and their families and for all the staff involved.
“And that is why every effort has to be made to improve track and trace and to ensure many more people have access to local Covid-19 testing.”
