Scottish Conservative MSP Liz Smith has expressed her concern at the temporary closure of the post office in Crieff, describing it as “a very regrettable” situation.
The politician, who represents the Mid Scotland and Fife region, was reacting to an announcement made on July 8 that the town’s post office in Crieff High Street will temporarily close due to Covid-19.
The Post Office have said the postmaster has resigned and that the premises have been temporarily withdrawn for post office use.
Commenting, Liz Smith said: “This is a very regrettable situation which will undoubtedly cause inconvenience to Strathearn residents who have already seen many of their local services diminished.
“It is to be hoped that the Post Office can work quickly with business partners to restore post office services as soon as possible.”
Liz Smith added: “Post offices are a lifeline for local communities, most especially at a time when the effects of Covid-19 are so difficult.”
