Liz Smith CBE MSP (Mid Scotland and Fife) has expressed her alarm at the news of the collapse of the Perth Aviva wind turbine in the early morning of the 12 September.
The collapse of the turbine, just ten months after it was built, occurred just yards away from a public footpath.
Commenting Liz Smith CBE MSP said:
“I am alarmed at the news that a wind turbine at Perth Aviva has collapsed.”
“I am glad to hear that nobody was injured, but at the site’s proximity to a public footpath it could have been so much worse.”
“An urgent inquiry must be called to establish how a mechanical failure on the structure could have led to such potentially catastrophic consequences”.
