In a letter to Murdo Fraser MSP, Perth and Kinross Council has committed to further measures to improve road safety on the treacherous A923.
The A923 hit the headlines over the summer following a tragic crash which took the life of a young motorist. This crash was not the first on a route which has witnessed a number of accidents in recent years.
In the letter, the Head of Service for Environmental and Consumer Services, Willie Young, stated that a route action plan is being undertaken by the Traffic and Network team in collaboration with elected representatives and the Community Council, with the first section scheduled for completion by the end of the financial year.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said;
“I am pleased to see that Perth and Kinross Council is aware of dangers on the A923 and is considering new measures in addition to the safety works that have already been installed on the route.
“This road has witnessed its fair share of tragedies in recent years and it’s important that measures are taken to ensure fewer families are faced with the loss of loved ones.
“I look forward to watching the progress of these new safety measures and will be happy to engage with the council to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to increase road safety on the A923.”
