Aberfeldy man and community activist John Duff has been selected to fill the vacant Highland ward seat on Perth and Kinross Council following the sad death of Council Leader Ian Campbell.
The by-election will be held on Thursday the 19th of April.
John was born and bred in the town before leaving to serve as a Senior Police Officer in Strathclyde for 30 years. Following his retirement, he moved back to the area he once called home and has been active in the community ever since. John is a member of Weem Church, sings with Aberfeldy Gaelic Choir and is a fundraiser for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland.
John recently spearheaded a successful campaign to have five public access defibrillators rolled out across the area.
Commenting John Duff said:
“Ian was a fantastic Councillor for the Highland ward – hard working and highly respected – and his sudden death was a huge shock to us all. I want to continue Ian’s legacy in this area and, if elected, will work hard to make Highland Perthshire a safer, stronger and better place to live, work and visit.”
