The future of A & E care at PRI is secure according to a response received by Murdo Fraser from the Health Minister during Portfolio Questions in the Scottish Parliament.
The Health Minister, Shona Robison MSP, reassured Murdo that despite open consultations on the future of elective and emergency surgery, the A and E unit will remain in place at PRI.
Murdo has welcomed this reassurance, but intends hold the SNP Government to its promises.
Commenting Murdo Fraser MSP said;
“Residents across Perth and Kinross will be pleased to hear the Health Minister promise to maintain A & E provision in PRI.
“With the proposed relocation of emergency surgery from PRI to Ninewells in Dundee, there have been questions raised over the future viability of the A & E in its present form.
“PRI is a hugely important hospital for communities across the region and it is vital that the doors of its A & E unit remain open, and I will continue to press the Scottish Government to ensure this remains the case.”
