PARLIAMENTARY PRIASE FOR FRIENDS OF BIRKS CINEMA

A parliamentary motion that has the backing of Conservative, Labour and SNP MSPs has been lodged in the Scottish Parliament by Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser to highlight and celebrate the achievements of the Friends of Birks Cinema in reaching their fundraising target of £1.8million to restore the Birks cinema in Aberfeldy.

NEW BANNOCKBURN CENTRE

Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo has welcomed news that construction work on a new visitor centre at the site of the battle of Bannockburn will begin in the summer.

MSP calls for greater role for Post Office branches

 Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife has called on Ministers to investigate how additional services may be able to be provide by local Post Offices branches. Speaking at Finance, Employment and Sustainable Growth Questions in the Scottish Parliament the Perthshire based MSP called on SNP Minsters to investigate how local Councils and the Police could introduce “council and police counters” in Post Office branches to bring on site additional public services and help and advice for members of the public. 

VISITSCOTLAND SURVEY – SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT MUST LISTEN

VisitScotland this week published their Scotland Visitor Survey 2011 results, which showed that the top reason for visitors coming to Scotland is to see its scenery and landscape. Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser wants the Scottish Government to take on board the findings when it comes to decisions on whether or not to grant on shore wind farm developments in scenic areas such as Perthshire.
