Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife has called on the SNP Scottish Government to make investment in connecting rural communities, properties and businesses a priority. The calls come following the publication by the Scottish Government of Scotland's Digital Future - Infrastructure Action Plan.

Visit to Fairfield Housing Co-op

Perthshire businesses have been short-listed for the Scottish Countryside Alliance Awards 2012, which takes place on the evening of 8th February 2012 in the Scottish Parliament, and MSP Murdo Fraser has welcomed the strong showing by Perthshire rural businesses to reach the finals.


The issue of access to Gaelic medium education in Perth & Kinross was raised in the Scottish Parliament this week after MSP Murdo Fraser called on the Scottish Government to ensure that there is not a two-tier education system in the delivery of Gaelic medium education.

Smith welcomes broadband investment for Perthshire

BT has announced that 47 communities across Scotland, including Stanley and Bridge of Earn will receive next generation broadband. The changes, which are due to be completed by next summer, would mean properties in these communities will now receive internet speeds of up to 20Mbps.

MSP sees year round preparations at Lady Haig Poppy Factory

Liz Smith, Scottish Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland & Fife paid a visit to the Lady Haig Poppy Factory, Edinburgh to meet with representatives of Poppy Scotland and learn about the organisations year round preparations to provide the poppies and wreaths for memorial day. Poppy Scotland are also undertaking valuable work in schools and provide a great opportunity for Scottish schools to visit the factory in Edinburgh.

Inchyra Level Crossing

Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser and Carse of Gowrie Councillor Mac Roberts have welcomed the new link road between Inchyra and St Madoes, which will open to traffic this Wednesday 25th January.

Perth Train Station

  Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser has welcomed progress being made on the planned investment to improve access to Perth train station. 


MSP Murdo Fraser has today (20 January) announced an inquiry into the achievability of the Scottish Government’s renewable energy targets, which will be examined by the Scottish Parliament’s Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee.
