Make Perth the permanent home of the new Fire & Rescue Service headquarters: that was the call from MSP Murdo Fraser today in the Scottish Parliament after he raised the issue in the Debating Chamber.

IMPORTANCE OF TOURISM TO PERTHSHIRE

Today, on the day that the Scottish Parliament debated Scotland’s tourism industry with a debate on ‘The Future of Tourism in Scotland’, Mid-Scotland and Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser called on VisitScotland and the Scottish Government to do more to promote Perthshire’s tourism industry.

Mid-Scotland and Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser has called on the First Minister to help genuine farmers and crofters and end the agricultural subsidies to ‘slipper’ farmers. 

DEMAND FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO FIFE MORNING RAIL SERVICES

In the Scottish Parliament, Murdo Fraser lodged parliamentary questions asking the Scottish Government whether it will make Fife rail services a priority area for investment.  Murdo Fraser also asked the Scottish Government to outline the discussions it has had with ScotRail to improve rail services in Fife.

PROTECT OUR SCOTTISH LIVESTOCK

Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser has called on the Scottish Government’s agencies to assist Scottish farmers to ensure that the Schmallenberg virus does not spread to Scotland.  MSP Murdo Fraser wants to see the retention of all of Scotland’s eight Disease Surveillance Centres.

LABOUR SHOULD APOLOGISE TO PERTH

Mid-Scotland and Fife Conservative MSPs Murdo Fraser and Liz Smith have called on North East Labour MSP Jenny Marra to apologise to the people of Perth following her comments in the Scottish Parliament during a debate on ‘Protecting Access to Justice across Scotland’, where she claimed Perth juries may not be concerned about crimes that have taken place in Dundee.

WI-FI FOR TRAINS

Mid-Scotland and Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser has welcomed the pilot scheme to provide wi-fi on First Scotrail services. Murdo Fraser first raised the issue with the Scottish Government in June 2011 and believes Scotland’s train services – including Fife, Perth and Stirling services - should have reliable and free wi-fi to make the train service a more attractive option to Scottish commuters.

MSP welcomes OFT rural communities project

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has launched an initiative that will look into the challenges facing people who live and work in rural places across the UK. The ‘Remote Communities Project’ hopes to improve the OFT’s understanding of consumers and businesses and is calling for evidence from the public to help them.
