Carse of Gowrie Councillor Angus Forbes is urging Dundee City Council to allow Invergowrie pupils to attend Harris Academy.
The Scottish Conservative politician, who attended Harris Academy himself, was reacting to a proposal by Dundee City Council to send Invergowrie Primary School children to a secondary school in Perth instead of the Harris.
Invergowrie is in the Perth and Kinross Council area but is located near Dundee and children from the village have been going to Harris Academy for many years.
Commenting, Councillor Forbes said: "As a former Harris pupil myself, I know first hand the benefits that children from Invergowrie bring to the school. I met some of my best friends from Invergowrie when I was at Harris Academy.
"The sad thing is that this decision will be taken by people who are not elected by the parents of the children who will be affected and I would urge politicians in Dundee of all political colours to find a way to continue to allow Invergowrie children to attend Harris Academy."
